The Little Scooper program has been designed to introduce the game of lacrosse at a young level. The goal is to build a better understanding of the game, its origins, and develop a passion for the game. To do this we have developed a program that allows young players to learn the game without having to buy equipment or make long term commitments.
Our target audience is Kindergarten to second-grade boys and girls. Why this age group? Many kids develop a passion for sports at a young age. Without mentors or role models of lacrosse in their lives, the sport of lacrosse is currently an afterthought in Minnesota. Very few kids have parents who played the game of lacrosse growing up.
Learning lacrosse requires the development of eye-hand coordination. That is made difficult with a helmet on. So we strive to get as many repetitions without the normal lacrosse gear getting in the way. Our philosophy is not new, in hockey, the Europeans perfected hockey training at younger ages office and without protective equipment and just a stick and a ball.
